WE ARE WARREN CHOIRS

16th Street Soul
Honors Advanced A Cappella Choir
16th Street Soul is the premier contemporary a cappella ensemble of Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. Since its founding in 2021, the ensemble has become one of the most celebrated student vocal groups in the Midwest, earning recognition for its powerful artistry, vocal excellence, and emotionally compelling performances.
Drawing inspiration from gospel, R&B, pop, hip-hop, jazz, and contemporary vocal music, 16th Street Soul combines exceptional musicianship with authentic storytelling. The ensemble is known for creating performances that are both intimate and cinematic, inviting audiences into meaningful musical experiences that transcend the stage.
In just five years, 16th Street Soul has built an impressive legacy of achievement. In its very first season competing in the International Championship of High School A Cappella (ICHSA), the ensemble captured the 2023 Midwest Championship and advanced to the International Finals in New York City. Three years later, the group repeated that feat by earning the 2026 Midwest Championship and once again advancing to the International Finals, establishing itself as one of the region's premier scholastic a cappella ensembles.
Over its first four years in the ICHSA circuit, 16th Street Soul has advanced to the Midwest Semifinals every season, earned multiple caption awards for vocal performance and outstanding soloists, and twice represented the Midwest on the international stage. The ensemble has also been selected as a featured showcase ensemble at the prestigious Kettering National A Cappella Festival and has become a sought-after performance group throughout Central Indiana.
Beyond the competitive stage, 16th Street Soul serves as an ambassador for Warren Central High School and the Eastside community. The ensemble has been featured at professional sporting events, community celebrations, educational conferences, and special performances throughout the region, including performing its signature arrangement of the National Anthem for the Indianapolis Indians.
Under the direction of Mister Brian Long & Miss Kelsey Coram, members of 16th Street Soul are challenged to develop as musicians, leaders, and storytellers. The ensemble emphasizes artistic excellence, collaboration, authenticity, and belonging; values that have become hallmarks of the WCChoirs program.
More than an a cappella group, 16th Street Soul is a family of young artists who use the power of the human voice to connect, inspire, and elevate those around them. They proudly represent Warren Central High School as The Pride of the Eastside, carrying forward a tradition where every voice finds its place and every story sings.
